We are looking for you! The design assistant position we have is right up your alley. The hours are flexible, 20-25 most weeks during our busier time of the year (March-October/November). Fewer hours over the winter or maybe even take the winter off? You would be assisting our designer/salespeople in putting together our landscape presentations and creating the beautiful landscape designs we show our clients. We will teach the right person to operate our computer program. Don't want to be stuck inside on those beautiful spring days? Don't worry; you will get to visit some of the properties we will be designing.
Learn new plants. Learn a new program. Learn about what we do!
Interested? Send a brief introduction about yourself and your contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org

Fall is often a time for a little slow down. The summer has ended and the kids are back in school. Football games have started and the weather actually is allowing for some nice time outdoors. However, the landscape doesn't have to take a back seat in the fall. Below are a couple of tasks to do this fall that will pay dividends in the future.
- FERTILIZE THE TURF: Fertilization of the turf in the fall may just be the most important step to creating and maintaining a healthy lawn. The fertilizer now will help strengthen the root system and provide valuable resources the turf can use next spring.
If you need any help getting some of the tasks fit into your busy schedule or want to start getting a jump start on next year's plan please feel free to give us a call at 785-539-1799.

So you've taken inventory of your property and maybe it has seen better days and needs a little help. Maybe you are debating hoping in the pickup truck and heading down to the big box store, picking up some plants on sale, and doing it yourself. Before you grab those keys and put the shovel in the ground I invite you review these four reasons to hire a landscape professional:
2. Landscaping is what they know - Have you ever tried to ask the clerk at the big box store if that Hosta will grow in full sun and get an answer without them looking at the tag? Chances are slim. Most landscape designers have actually earned a bachelor's degree in horticulture and know plants like the back of their hand. So why would you gamble on the plant tags and possibly lose your investment? And if you're wondering, that Hosta probably won't do well in the full sun.
3. They've seen it all - Well maybe not it all but we have seen a lot and your situation may not be as unique or difficult as you think. The designers see multiple properties a day and help hundreds of homeowners just like you, and probably even your neighbor, solve theirs landscape issues with as little drama as possible.
4. They do all the hard work - Let's face it, landscape work is hard! The ground almost seems likes it pushes back when you try to dig a hole. Why not let a group of professionals come through and tackle that multiple weekend project in just a couple of days. You can save the ibuprofen and massage for another time. Better yet, get the massage anyways!

Finally we are enjoying some beautiful, warm weather—do you plan on spending a lot of time outside this summer? Relaxing outside with a cold drink after a long day at the office and hosting a bar-b-que on the weekends?
Your backyard can be a good space to do that but why not make it a great space by creating an outdoor living room? Many people wish they had more privacy in their backyard. There’s nothing worse than going out onto your deck and having to share every moment with your neighbor next door as you look over at them. Create privacy in your backyard with landscaping.
You can accomplish this using softscaping with shrubs, trees and flowers. Using a combination and layering of these plants will give you a natural screen with year round interest.
Hardscaping with sitting walls and paver patios can give you a place to sit and enjoy. Adding fire pits, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and pergolas finish it off, giving you a functional, private and beautiful outdoor space you can refer to as your “Outdoor Living Room”.
